“Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.”
Born and raised in Melbourne, Australia, John and Samuel came to the United States in the 2010s on collegiate tennis scholarships. Sons of teachers, Samuel and John chose to apply their educational and competitive talents to business on one determination — this business must be squarely focused on improving the human condition.
After going vegan in early 2015, John and Samuel continued to uncover countless staggering truths about the global state of human health, agriculture and diet, centered around the facts that: diet is the number one killer on earth, nationally and globally; agriculture a leading contributor to climate change; and a plant-based diet is the way to lengthen life and prevent disease.
Alongside these facts, a galvanizing moment for the Bertram brothers was the discovery that 1.1 billion people began this millennium hungry. From then on they knew that the way to make the most significant impact was to improve human health by revolutionizing agriculture. In July 2017, OnePointOne, Inc. was born; dedicated to creating the most sophisticated automated indoor farming technology in the world. It is OnePointOne’s technology that powers Willo quality and corresponding success.
Willo, established in early 2020, is the consumer brand of OnePointOne. Willo’s Farming as a Service (FaaS) model was designed to reconnect people and families directly to the farm. This ancient and sacred relationship has been lost in the shadows of industrial farming and Willo’s goal is to rejuvenate it. With connection to the farm, people finally regain control over their food, how it is grown and where it comes from.
Willo exists to promote human health by restoring our control, and connection, to our food—and to deliver on the promise of personalized farming and precision nutrition.
“There are 1.1 billion people that began this millennium malnourished. We named our vertical farming company OnePointOne as a constant reminder of what we are aiming to solve. Willo is the first phase of our vision.”
